My Highly Caffeinated Thought: Absorbing, taut, and suspenseful with all the best elements of a psychological thriller.
AFTER NIGHTFALL takes the reader down a path filled with misdirection, lies, sinister plotting, and murder. There was not a moment when I felt that I had it all figured out. Each layer of the mystery was carefully constructed in a way which gives the reader all the edge of your seat tension you could possibly want.
Here is the thing about reading so many thrillers back to back. Sometimes, the stories get boring. I tend to figure out the plot way before the end and even though I may love the book, it can be annoying. However, there has been a new stream of books that are shocking me. AFTER NIGHTFALL is one of these books. Banner's writing is fast paced and jam packed with all the twists and turns I love. The way the author manipulated the story and unveiled the mystery was superb. And the ending! Let me tell you...there was no way I saw it coming.
If you are looking for a psychological thriller to pull you in through eloquent writing and masterful storytelling, this is the book for you.

From the bestselling author of The Good Neighbor comes a gripping thriller about an engagement party gone fatally awry.
Imagine your closest friend utterly betraying you. Years later, when she seeks forgiveness, you invite her to your engagement party as a gesture of reconciliation. But seething hostilities rise to the surface, ruining everyone’s evening. After an awful night, your friend’s battered, lifeless body is found at the bottom of a rocky cliff.
Newly engaged Marissa Parlette is living this nightmare. She should be celebrating her upcoming wedding, but she can’t shake the image of her friend lying dead on the beach. Did she fall? Was she pushed? Or did she take a purposeful step into darkness? Desperate for answers, Marissa digs deep into the events of the party. But what she remembers happening after nightfall now carries sinister implications: the ugly sniping, the clandestine meetings, the drunken flirtations. The more she investigates, the more she questions everything she thought she knew about her friends, the man she once trusted, and even herself.
