In the second book in the Hoot and Peep series, author and illustrator Lita Judge beautifully creates a world that is not only endearing, but also has a hint of whimsy to it. Through lush illustrations filled with all the colors of winter, the story comes alive. These two characters are truly wonderful.

I will admit to you all, that I am a huge fan of Lita’s work. In fact, I even gave HOOT AND PEEP as a Christmas gift to one of my littlest cousins last year. He loved it so much that he made his mom read it right after we opened it presents.

So if there is one…or maybe two…books you give to your young reader this year, the Hoot and Peep series should be at the top of the list. These are instant classics that will be something you both with treasure.

Reviewer Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Recently, I have been working on a lot of coloring book illustrations for an upcoming book project that will be announced soon. So, when I signed up for the blog tour, I thought it would be fun to create an illustration for you all to download, print out and color. Though the drawing is not a reproduction of the books illustrations, it is inspired by the book.

Download your coloring page here and have a little fun with your kids or by yourself.

A young owl experiences the magic of a first snowfallthe quiet wintery wonder, the pristine beauty, and snowballs!in this follow-up to the adorable HOOT AND PEEP.

It’s Peep’s first winter, and it’s going to snow very, very soon. Peep has so many questions for her older brother Hoot: Does snow drop, polppety splop, like the rain's song? Does it scrinkle scrattle like falling leaves? But Hoot can't remember snow very well. The one thing he knows for sure is that it is worth waiting for.

But Peep doesn't have his patience, and as she flies around the gorgeous Paris skies, she tries her best to make up her own snow song. But once those first snowflakes start to fall, Peep realizes just how wise her older brother really is for waiting...and just who she wants to cuddle up to when the snow starts to really sing.

With all the wonder and the joy of a first snow day, and perfect for fans of The Quiet Book and Little Owl's Night, this tender follow-up to Hoot and Peep is certainly worth waiting for, too.

In the night skies above Paris, an adorable young owl teaches her older brother about the power of imagination—and the unconditional love between siblings.

Hoot the owl is very excited for his little sister, Peep, to join him on the cathedral rooftops. She's finally old enough to learn all his big brother owly wisdom: First, owls say hooo. Second, they always say hooo. Lastly, they ONLY say hooo! But why would Peep say hooo when she could say schweeepty peep or dingity dong? Why would she speak when she could sing? As she explores the breathtaking Parisian cityscape, Peep discovers so many inspiring sights and sounds—the ring of cathedral bells, the slap of waves on stone—that she can’t help but be swept up in the magic of it all. Hoot doesn’t understand Peep’s awe, until he takes a pause to listen . . . and realizes that you're never too old to learn a little something new.

From the beloved author/illustrator of the classic picture book Red Sled, this gorgeous read aloud celebrates the wonder found in little things—and in the hearts of dreamers, young and old.
