My Highly Caffeinated Thought: A taut thriller filled with misdirection, lost memories, murder, and characters who may not be who they say they are.
There is so much to say about DEAD GIRL RUNNING. Having never read anything by Dodd before, I wasn’t sure what I was going to get. I knew that I loved the synopsis, but I have fallen for that trick before. Nevertheless, I dove into this twisty, turny tale and didn’t look back.
Honestly, this book is positively binge worthy. The the story fast paced, but still managed slow down a bit so that the reader could take a moment to recover from what was just revealed. Dodd manages to tease us with flashbacks as she carefully unravels the mysteries of Kellen’s missing year, the dead body found, and what seems to be a smuggling operation going on at the resort. Yeah…there is a lot going on. However, with all the elements and off shoots of the narrative has, I never once felt overwhelmed or confused.
DEAD GIRL RUNNING check all the boxes for me. It has the tension, action, and characters to invest in. I was pulled in from page one and still has its hold on me long after I have finished. A must read for romantic suspense lovers and thriller lovers alike.

I have three confessions to make:
1. I've got the scar of a gunshot on my forehead.
2. I don't remember an entire year of my life.
3. My name is Kellen Adams...and that's half a lie.
Girl running...from a year she can't remember, from a husband she prays is dead, from homelessness and fear. Tough, capable Kellen Adams takes a job as assistant manager of a remote vacation resort on the North Pacific Coast. There amid the towering storms and the lashing waves, she hopes to find sanctuary. But when she discovers a woman's dead and mutilated body, she's soon trying to keep her own secrets while investigating first one murder...then another.
Now every guest and employee is a suspect. Every friendly face a mask. Every kind word a lie. Kellen's driven to defend her job, her friends and the place she's come to call home. Yet she wonders--with the scar of a gunshot on her forehead and amnesia that leaves her unsure of her own past--could the killer be staring her in the face?
