My Highly Caffeinated Thought: A wonderfully binge-worthy dark and twisted story where nothing is quite as it seems.
CROSS HER HEART has just become one of my top 10 books I have read this year. It grabbed me from the first pages and kept me up at night as I clamored for more. Pinborough gives her readers a well developed and complicated tale containing the perfect balance of suspense, emotion, and strong female characters.
What can I say about this book? It is fast-paced, addictive, and smartly original. The author develops the story in a way which inches the reader closer to an answer but then takes almost everything away making a turn which leads closer to the truth. Duplicity and lies run rampant throughout this thriller in the best possible way.
I also have to give it to the author for not falling into the trap of having the women be helpless creatures or follow any real trope. Pinborough wrote about real women with flaws, issues, and strength. The bonds of these women, healthy or not, are the backbone of this book. The honesty within the depiction of her characters resonated with me as well as my inner feminist.
If you are looking for your next thriller to obsess about, CROSS HER HEART is for you.
