My Highly Caffeinated Thought: A perfect mix of realistic emotional moments, sexy bits, and fun banter between two characters who might be the ideal match.
MEET CUTE is a wonderfully sweet and real story. Though we first meet our leads in an awkward and embarrassing introduction back in college, the majority of the story is set years later after Dax suffers a devastating loss which causes their lives to collide again. The beauty of this book lies within the journey the reader gets to go on with Dax and Kailyn while they navigate the legal issues of custody, the chemistry between them, and parenting a teenage girl.
What I loved about this book is the honesty and reality within the prose. The author creates a world where things have ups, downs, and in-betweens. She manages to give her readers characters with genuine emotion, authentic reactions, and biting wit.
For the romance lovers out there, this is a book which will give you the sexy moments you love in addition to a grounded narrative for you to invest in all of those you meet. Though I have to say, Dax and Kailyn may be the main characters, Emme is the star of this book for me. Be warned; she will grab your heart and not let go.
Reviewer Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
However, I did personally buy the eBook for my library.
The New York Times bestselling author of Pucked and The Good Luck Charm delivers a Hollywood happily-ever-after where a famous heartthrob falls for his ultimate fangirl.
Talk about an embarrassing introduction. On her first day of law school, Kailyn ran - quite literally - into the actor she crushed on as a teenager, ending with him sprawled on top of her. Mortified to discover the Daxton Hughes was also a student in her class, her embarrassment over their meet-cute quickly turned into a friendship she never expected. Of course, she never saw his betrayal coming either...
Now, eight years later, Dax is in her office asking for legal advice. Despite her anger, Kailyn can't help feeling sorry for the devastated man who just became sole guardian to his thirteen-year-old sister. But when her boss gets wind of Kailyn's new celebrity client, there's even more at stake than Dax's custody issues: if she gets Dax to work at their firm, she'll be promoted to partner.
The more time Kailyn spends with Dax and his sister, the more she starts to feel like a family, and the more she realizes the chemistry they had all those years ago is as fresh as ever. But will they be able to forgive the mistakes of the past, or will one betrayal lead to another?
