OVERKILL by Vanda Symon
Sam Shephard Series, Book 1

My Highly Caffeinated Thought: A fast moving crime novel with female investigator readers can relate to.
OVERKILL is the type of book you can devour in one sitting. Symon's writing is so smooth and flows effortlessly from chapter to chapter all the while maintaining the tension and suspense. It is the perfect balance of human interest and crime investigation.
One of the things I liked about the book was the setting. New Zealand gave me a different feel and vibe than my Nordic Noirs. It wasn't as heavy, but still managed to contain a healthy dose of mystery. Then you add into the mix a wonderfully real female sleuth on the quest to discover the truth. What more can you want?
I wasn't sure what to expect from Symon, but she has a new fan. Bring on the next book in the series. I am going to need my Sam Shepard fix soon.
