My Highly Caffeinated Thought: A positively entertaining fairytale makeover set in the ExcelsiCon world.

Starflame! THE PRINCESS AND THE FANGIRL is another winner for me. There is something so wonderfully indulgent about entering this geektastic world. Poston, yet again, breathes new life into a classic tale and I loved every minute of it.

Book Review for THE PRINCESS AND THE FAN GIRL by Ashley Poston

With a new group of characters to fall in love with, this book expands upon what the reader already knows from the previous book, GEEKERELLA. Imogen and Jess are perfect as flawed young women discovering who they really are by stepping into the other’s shoes.

Something that I have been aware of lately has been the diversity within books. Not only the authors telling the stories but in what types of people the reader meets while reading. Poston manages to represent the complete spectrum characters without making a big deal about it. Their lives and choices are normal…as it should be. They are not caricatures or over the top or having a huge point made about their background or sexual orientation. They are just Imogen, Jess, Harper, Ethan, Milo, Bran, etc. This is brilliantly done, and I applaud her for it.

If you are looking for a fun, heartwarming, and fabulously nerdy read, this is the book for you. I adore the books in the Once Upon a Con series and hope there are many more to come.

The Prince and the Pauper gets a Geekerella-style makeover in this witty and heartfelt novel for those who believe in the magic of fandom.

Imogen Lovelace is an ordinary fangirl on an impossible mission: to save her favorite Starfield character, Princess Amara, from being killed off. On the other hand, the actress who plays Amara wouldn’t mind being axed. Jessica Stone doesn’t even like being part of the Starfield franchise—and she’s desperate to leave the intense scrutiny of fandom behind.
Though Imogen and Jess have nothing in common, they do look strangely similar to one another—and a case of mistaken identity at ExcelsiCon sets off a chain of events that will change both of their lives. When the script for the Starfield sequel leaks, with all signs pointing to Jess, she and Imogen must trade places to find the person responsible. The deal: Imogen will play Jess at her signings and panels, and Jess will help Imogen’s best friend run their booth.
But as these “princesses” race to find the script leaker—in each other’s shoes—they’re up against more than they bargained for. From the darker side of fandom to unexpected crushes, Imogen and Jess must find a way to rescue themselves from their own expectations...and redefine what it means to live happily ever after.

About the Author: Ashey Poston is the author of Heart of Iron, We Own the Night, and Geekerella. She graduated from the University of South Carolina, where she really just played a lot of video games and wrote fanfic. Lucky for her, she’s now the author of quite a few books. When not writing, she can usually be found playing Dungeons and Dragons and… still writing fanfic. She lives in South Carolina with her bossy cat, and they are firm believers that we’re all a bunch of weirdos looking at other weirdos, asking for their usernames.
