THE GIRL WITH THE LOVER BACK TATTOO by Amy Schumer

Amy Schumer delivers a collection of essays that are honest, heartfelt, and funny as hell. Fans of the comedian/actress will love getting a look into life as she retells stories from her childhood, details from some of her hook-ups, and her reactions to the world around us. This book, in my humble opinion, shows us all just how talented she is.
I will start by saying that I have been a fan of Amy Schumer ever since I saw her in the TV special, Mostly Sex Stuff. I can still remember flipping through the channels and coming across the show on Comedy Central. It was one of those moments that I just knew I had to watch and as soon as I did, I was hooked.
So, when I heard that she was writing a book, I was really excited. Now, six months later, I had the book in my hands. What to do? I sat down with a glass of wine and started reading. I didn’t stop until the book and the wine were done. I loved it. There really isn’t any way else to put it, but maybe I can give you a list of why.
Top 5 Reasons why I loved this book.
1. Her candid, honest, and at time very real response to situations that happened in her life both positive and negative.
2. Her signature wit and humor. I mean…yeah. I think she is hilarious, so not much else needs to be said there.
3. Her diary entries with footnotes from 2016. Just read them. They are awesome.
4. The stories about the men she meets, her one-night stand (you read that right…singular…though technically there were two in the book), and other bedroom antics that you all know you want to read about.
5. Her ability to take experiences from her life and show others that they are not alone. She does not get on a soap box or try to preach to the reader. She is able to retell her story and reflect back on what happened in a way that shows compassion for others that may have went through the same thing.
So there you have it. I waited six months to read The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo and I would read it again tomorrow.
PS. If you happen not to like Amy for whatever reason, then I would guess that you wouldn’t even pick up the book or possibly read this review. Yet, if you are reading this, maybe you should pick it up. You might be surprised.
