My Highly Caffeinated Thought: Tantalizingly dark and sexy. The Raven Room opens up the door to an underground sex club and its secrets all the while sending you down a path filled with duplicity, suspense, and murder.

THE RAVEN ROOM by Ana Medeiros

The Raven Room is a sex club that few have access to, but once you are in, you are opened up to the world that has as many rules as it does opportunities to explore your deepest desires. It is a world that pushes the sexual boundaries of its members as they experience pain and pleasure in what seems to be in the same measure. It is a world that Julian knows all to well and Meredith wants to know more than anything.

These characters have been involved for a while and their relationship is not exactly conventional. Though it is apparent that these two care about one another, Julian and Meredith are very open with their sexual encounters. In fact, when a woman that captivates Julian named Alana enters the picture, Meredith is quite understanding. However, there is more than what is on the surface with all three of these players. Alana has secrets. Meredith is lying to potentially further her career. And Julian…Julian is the one that may be the biggest enigma of them all. This cliffhanger will leave you clamoring for more about the journey these three have started on. In the last chapters you will be thrown around and left feeling as if you don’t know which way is up.

What I loved most about this book was the way in which the author developed the story. Bit by bit, she peels back the layers to the history of the characters as well as goes deeper into darkness of the murders looming overhead. As each chapter flipped by, I found that I put aside all the sexual content in the book and really concentrated on the suspense and grit of what was in front of me. This is where the book comes alive and exemplifies the talent of the author. Trust me when I tell you that this book will become your next romantic suspense obsession.

I will say, that if you are not comfortable with a dark erotic tale or books that push any sexual boundaries, then this is not the story for you. However, if you can gloss over those elements, you will be able to really experience the beginning of a great story that will no doubt only get better in the next books.
