If you step into the world of Judith Rashleigh, you may not make it out. In the first two books of the Maestra series, I became completely obsessed with the fast-paced, dark, and sinfully addictive story as well as the woman behind a trail of bodies and art. I didn’t know what to expect when I started MAESTRA. However, by the end of DOMINA, I was clamoring for more.

My Highly Caffeinated Thought: A highly provocative thriller that acts as an origin story to this femme fatale.

MAESTRA is one of those books that you are either going to love or hate. Personally, I loved it. I instantly became engrossed in Judith’s life. This highly sexualized character is one of the most complex, smart, and deadly anti-heroes that I have met in a while. As the pages flipped by, I surprised by how quickly I was so invested in the outcome. I know that I shouldn’t be rooting for her, but at every twist and turn, I desperately wanted Judith to make it out safe. The way that the author effortlessly intertwined the darkness, the layers of mystery, and the overall humanity of this woman made this book for me.

My Highly Caffeinated Thought: This follow-up novel is even better than the first. The pages are filled with intrigue, sensuality, and art.

The second book in the Maestra Series blew me away. DOMINA is a fast-paced thrill-ride filled with all the excess of wealth, deception, death, and an unapologetic sexual appetite from our female chameleon. L.S. Hilton brings it in this book. She takes what we already know about Judith and kicks it into high gear as you are thrust back into her crazy life. The author manages to make the intrigue more intricate as well as give her readers characters that are more dynamic. Then there is the element of the art with the eccentric collectors and its rich history. In this book, far more than the other, I was pulled into the descriptions of the pieces. As the reader (and an art history fanatic), I really felt that Hilton did her research. There is definitely an added layer of authenticity when you read about Judith interacting with those in the art world as well as the pieces themselves.

In all honesty, I think that this book is far better than the first. However, I believe that this is in part due to the fact that Hilton built such a great foundation for the series in book one. This is the type of series that you either have to read each one as them come out or wait for three books to be published and binge read them.

Reviewer Disclaimer: I received a free copy of both of these books from the publisher. However, I have one-clicked them both since then...so you know I loved them.

Maestra (Maestra Series #1)

A put-upon assistant at a prestigious London art house, Judith Rashleigh is well-educated, well-groomed, and impeccably behaved—keeping the darker desires she indulges on nights off as her own little secret. But when Judith uncovers a dangerous heist, her life is shattered and she’s forced to run. Armed with just her wits and a talent for self-invention, she makes her way from the French Riviera to Geneva, Rome, and the nightclubs of Paris, determined to take back what is rightfully hers.

The beginning of a darkly irresistible trilogy, Maestra follows the rise of Judith, a woman whose vulnerability and ruthlessness have left readers worldwide begging to know: where do you go when you've gone too far?

Domina (Maestra Series #2)

In this riveting sequel to the instant New York Times bestseller, Maestra, femme fatale Judith Rashleigh once again leads readers into the mesmerizing and dangerous underworld of Europe’s glamorous elite.

Since opening her own art gallery in Venice, Judith Rashleigh—now Elisabeth Teerlinc—can finally stop running. She’s got the paycheck, lifestyle, and wardrobe she always dreamed of, not to mention the interest of a Russian billionaire. But when a chance encounter in Ibiza leads to a corpse that is, for once, not her own doing, she finds her life is back on the line—and she’s more alone than ever. It seems Judith’s become involved with more than just one stolen painting, and there is someone else willing to kill for what’s theirs.

From St. Moritz to Serbia, Judith again finds herself maneuvering the strange landscapes of wealth, but this time there’s far more than her reputation at stake. How far will Rage take Judith? Far enough to escape death?

The second installment in an unforgettable trilogy, Domina is the next sexy, ruthless, and decadent thriller from mastermind L. S. Hilton, and an adventure that will push Judith further than even she imagined she could go.

Find DOMINA at Amazon, iBooks, Barnes & Noble, and Penguin Random House.
