Happy Holidays Everyone! This year I am putting together some of my picks for gifts for some of the book lovers, coffee addicts, and those who would like a little more cheer in the season.
Are you looking for the perfect gift for the book lover on your list? I have my top five suggestions of bookish things that will have your favorite reader geeking out.
#1. Bookbeau. I have recently become obsessed with this item. What is it? Well…it is a sleeve that protects your books and with all the fabric options, it makes them look beautiful too. Using a bookbeau is the perfect way to travel with your book and not have the pages or cover get damaged. On top of that, the product is made extremely well. It really is the best way to love your books!
Can’t decide which beau is right for your favorite reader? Why not give them a gift card? Give the gift of a BB gift card today.
#2. Out of Print. This is your one stop shopping for all things bookish. From totes to mugs to shirts, this is one of the most fun sites for book lovers. Out of Print is dedicated to celebrating our favorite stories while promoting literacy in underserved communities. Each purchase helps to fund literacy programs and book donations to communities in need. It also supports the authors, publishers and artists who made these iconic works an integral part of our lives.
#3. In the Wick of Time. These bookish candles are perfect for the book lover in your family that also loves candles. With so many scents to choose from, you will have a number of options depending on what you like. Added bonus, they are 100% soy and vegan.
#4. Book Riot Store. This is another great place to find random bookish items. You can shop by item and by collection. The Book Riot Store features original Book Riot merchandise, our favorite items from Out of Print Clothing, and select special items from creators they love.
#5. Book of the Month Subscription. What could be better than giving the book holder…I mean lover a subscription to get a monthly delivery of a new read? In late 2015, in concert with the club’s 90th year, the club announced a major relaunch in its current iteration. Now, Book of the Month has some of the hottest books for its subscribers to choose from. Even better, they are starting to get the books before others can. Who wouldn’t want to have book that few other people have? I know I do.
If you don’t have time or really don’t know what to get for the book lover on your list, you can never go wrong with a gift card to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iBooks.
The holiday is the perfect time to give the gift of something boozy, caffeinated, and delicious to the ones you love. It may be coffee, tea, hot cocoa, wine, champagne, and/or a favorite liquor, but putting a bow on a favorite drink of your friends, family, or coworker is one way to stay on the nice list this year.
I have put together some of my favorites that I will be drinking throughout the holiday season.
Coffee and Tea. If you have a coffee or tea lover on your gift list, there are some great companies that you might have never heard of. Sure…you can go get Starbucks Pike’s Place or a Dunkin' Donuts blend, but why not have a little fun. Two companies that I just recently found out about are Death Wish Coffee and NovelTeas.
Death Wish Coffee. In 2012, Death Wish Coffee Co. was started in a small coffee shop in Saratoga Springs, NY. Founder, Mike Brown, saw a need for coffee that was both strong and delicious to serve his groggy, morning customers. After creating the perfect blend of beans and combining it with his unique roasting technique, the 'World's Strongest Coffee' was born. Today, thousands of people trust Death Wish Coffee to wake them up and keep them going every day.
NovelTeas. NovelTea Tins™ resemble great books with original MoTeaf™ artwork and uniquely blended teas inside, flavored to the theme of a classic novel.
Champagnes. Personally, I love the Moët & Chandon Impérial Brut, but they have a great selection of champagnes depending on your tastes and budget. If you don’t have a lot to spend on a little bubbly, consider KORBEL. It use to be my champs of choice in my 20s.
Wine. The gift of wine is one of those things that can make your life so much easier. If you have a wine lover in the family, first find out what they like and then hit your local liquor shop. Ask for help or just pick up on that you drink. My preference is generally red wines, Cabernet Sauvignon and most recently, Côtes du Rhône. Best thing about this is that you don’t have to break the bank to give a good bottle of wine. Most of the bottles that I drink are between $10 and $17 each.
Right now, what is on my wine rack is…Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rouge, Noble Vines 337 Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon, William Hill Cabernet Sauvignon, DeLoach Heritage Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, and Dark Horse Cabernet Sauvignon. If you like a more fruity wine that is intense, consider Carnivor Cabernet Sauvignon. This works really well with pork or steak…in my humble opinion. Now, even though I am more of a reds girl, there are three whites that love to drink as well as cook with. They are Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio, Simply Naked Sauvignon Blanc and William Hill Sauvignon Blanc.
Every Christmas, one of my go-to gifts are books. I love sharing with friends and family the books that I enjoyed over the past year. This year, I have compiled a list of some of my favorites in suspense, non-fiction, fantasy, superheroes, young adult, women's fiction, comic books/graphic novels, entertainment, for foodies, in celebration of women, and children’s books.
